What is the highest perfection?
"The supreme occupation [dharma] for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted to completely satisfy the self."
—
The ultimate goal of life, known as the summum bonum, is to achieve prema-bhakti, or pure, unmotivated, and uninterrupted love for God (Sri Krishna). This is the soul's natural state.
As we learned in "Who Am I?", our true identity is that of an eternal servant of the Lord.
Therefore, the goal of life is to revive that dormant relationship. When we act in our constitutional position, we experience the highest bliss, which cannot be found in any amount of material gain or success.
What is the path to this goal?
The path to achieving this goal is the practice of Bhakti-yoga. By engaging our senses, mind, and heart in the service of the Lord—through practices like hearing (śravaṇaṁ), chanting (kīrtanam), and remembering (smaraṇam)—we gradually purify our consciousness.
This purification removes the layers of material desire that cover our true self.
As the heart becomes cleansed, our innate love for Krishna naturally awakens,
culminating in the perfection of life.
